The Pit extended description (play trailer) Synopsis: What does the price of your clothes, your gas, your coffee have to do with a room full of screaming, running, shoving, pushing, spitting personalities speaking in code? Everything. “The Pit” takes us to one of the most primitive, yet highly ritualized arenas of the financial world, the floor of The New York Board of Trade. Billions of dollars of raw goods are traded daily at the NYBOT, setting the price of commodities from cotton to orange juice throughout the world. Using their own money, traders make and lose fortunes every day in this microcosm of raw capitalism. In the beginning of 2007, however, computerized trading platforms were introduced on the floor of the exchange, threatening to make this historic marketplace and way of life obsolete. “The Pit” is the story about this transformation.
